Gucci Mane: Evil Genius [Atlantic]

Following prolific output in 2016 and ’17, Evil Genius is remarkably Gucci Mane’s first project of 2018. The album follows last year’s El Gato: The Human Glacier. It features Bruno Mars, Migos, 21 Savage, Lil Skies, and others.

Guided by Voices: Wine Cork Stonehenge EP / 100 Dougs EP [Rockathon/GBV Inc]

In April 2019, Guided by Voices will release a new 24-song album called Warp and Woof. Their new EPs—Wine Cork Stonehenge and 100 Dougs—feature songs from W&W. In March 2019, they’ll release two more EPs with W&W tracks. Those are called Umlaut Over the Özone and 1901 Acid Rock.

GBV released just one LP this year, Space Gun. Along with Warp and Woof, they plan to release a record called Zeppelin Over China on February 1.

XXL: Puff O’Gigio [Bad Paintings]

XXL is the collaborative project of Xiu Xiu and experimental Italian band Larsen. Puff O’Gigio is their fourth album, following 2012’s Düde. According to a press release, the record “inhabits the same colorful, intersectional world as” the titular Puff O’Gigio, “a mythological, genetically modified character.”

Ben LaMar Gay: Benjamim e Edinho [International Anthem]

Benjamim e Edinho is Chicago artist Ben LaMar Gay’s fourth release this year. His debut LP, Downtown Castles Can Never Block the Sun, arrived in May, while he shared the “audiobook” 500 Chains in September, and dropped a collection of field recordings and instrumentals called Grapes in November. Benjamim e Edinho consists of Gay’s previously unreleased back catalog from his time recording with Brazilian guitarist Edinho Gerber from 2011 to 2013.

Say Sue Me: Christmas, It’s Not a Biggie EP [Damnably/Electric Muse]

South Korean trio Say Sue Me are back with the new holiday EP, Christmas, It’s Not a Biggie. The band slowly put together the EP by “collecting carols from every winter.” The 4-track project follows their album When We Were Together, which arrived in April.
