There’s a new teaser trailer for Alex Ross Perry’s new Pavement movie. The film stars Stranger Things’ Joe Keery as Stephen Malkmus. Today’s new clip features the Brighten the Corners song “Shady Lane,” which, appropriately, features the lyric, “You’ve been chosen as an extra in the movie adaptation of the sequel to your life.” Watch the video below.
The Pavement movie, called Pavements, had its premiere at last year’s Venice Film Festival. If you’re a bit confused as to why the below clip is about “Range Life: A Pavement Story,” it’s because that’s a fictional film, within Pavements, that is a sort of parody of music biopics, as pointed out by fans on the IndieHeads subreddit. Basically, the Pavement movie contains a Pavement movie.
Beyond Keery, Pavements stars Jason Schwartzman, Fred Hechinger, Tim Heidecker, Logan Miller, Griffin Newman, and Nat Wolff. A wide release date for the movie has not yet been revealed.
Outside of the Pavement movie, Joe Keery makes his own music under the name Djo. Early next month, he’ll share the new Djo album The Crux.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Alex Ross Perry’s new movie about Pavement is Range Life: A Pavement Story. The movie is still called Pavements, and Range Life: A Pavement Story is a fictional film within the film.
