Aziz Ansari has announced a new standup special called Right Now. It’s directed by Spike Jonze and it arrives on Netflix on July 9. Find a trailer below.

Right Now marks Aziz Ansari’s first standup special since he was accused of sexual assault in January 2018. That month, babe.net posted a lengthy account from an anonymous 23-year-old woman who said, “I believe that I was taken advantage of by Aziz,” regarding a September 2017 date with Ansari. “I was not listened to and ignored. It was by far the worst experience with a man I’ve ever had,” she added. The woman also told babe, “It took a really long time for me to validate this as sexual assault.”

Shortly after babe.net published its article, Aziz Ansari issued a statement, writing that he believed their encounter had been consensual. He closed the note: “I continue to support the movement that is happening in our culture. It is necessary and long overdue.”

In April 2018, Aziz Ansari made his first public appearance following the allegations when he sat courtside at New York Knicks game. The next month, he made his return to standup with a show at New York’s Comedy Cellar. He has since performed additional shows and gone on tour.

Netflix aired the first two seasons of Aziz Ansari’s TV series “Master of None.” His latest standup special, Aziz Ansari: Live at Madison Square Garden, premiered on Netflix in March 2015.
