Phoebe Bridgers’ annual tradition of releasing a holiday charity single continues with some help from her Boygenius bandmates and the Irish folk duo Ye Vagabonds. The musicians collaborated on “The Parting Glass,” a traditional ballad popular in Ireland. The cover artwork is a photo of the late Sinéad O’Connor, who famously recorded the song in 2002. Both bands and Interscope Records will donate all net proceeds from the single to the Aisling Project, and after-school effort for kids growing up in a disadvantaged area of Dublin. The charity was chosen by the Sinéad O’Connor Estate.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Boygenius have chosen to give proceeds from the release to Aisling Project,” says Project leader Mícheál Clear. “It’s an absolute privilege to be associated with the stunningly beautiful homage to Sinead O’Connor and we can’t possibly thank Boygenius enough.”
