The 2019 BRIT Awards took place today at the O2 Arena in London. Aphex Twin, the 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Ella Mai, Gorillaz, Jorja Smith, Florence + the Machine, Lily Allen, Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris, and Giggs were among the British nominees. International nominees included JAY-Z and Beyoncé, Drake, Cardi B, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Kamasi Washington, Janelle Monáe, Nile Rodgers and CHIC, Christine and the Queens, Camila Cabello, and Eminem. The 1975 won British Album of the Year for A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships. Find the full list of winners below.

During the 1975’s acceptance speech for British Group, frontman Matty Healy quoted from a 2015 piece by Guardian’s deputy music editor and Pitchfork contributor Laura Snapes. “She said that in music, ‘male misogynist acts are examined for nuance and defended as traits of ‘difficult’ artists while women and those who call them out are treated as hysterics who don’t understand art,‘” Healy read before exiting the stage.
