British rapper Cadet has died. The artist born Blaine Cameron Johnson was involved in an automobile accident earlier this morning, as the BBC reports. Johnson was on the way to Keele University, where he was set to deliver a performance. He was 28 years old.

Cadet came to prominence as an artist in the United Kingdom in 2015, releasing a slew of freestyles before his debut mixtape The Commitment was released in 2016. The cousin of Casyo “Krept” Johnson of the duo Krept & Konan, Cadet performed with them at Wireless Festival in 2015 before returning to the fest as a solo artist two years later. He was slated to make a return to the festival later this year.

“My life will never be the same again. I love you and will forever miss you. I cant believe it. I am heartbroken,” Krept wrote on Twitter. “Rest in peace cuz. You finally started getting the recognition you deserved. I’m so proud of you. My left lung. I’m devastated and broken right now.”
