Burning Man has revealed its temple for 2019 — The Temple of Direction.

The art installment by Geordie Van Der Bosch has been selected out of a pool of amazing submissions. It will serve as a place for reflection on the playa in Black Rock City come next year.

According to The Burning Man Journal, The Temple of Direction was selected for its elegant simplicity. As with any art form, this construct has its own purpose and meaning, but is up for interpretation. The linear form reflects the passage of life with its beginning, middle, and end.

Much of Burning Man takes place off the grid and off social media, but no doubt this work of art will provide the perfect backdrop for many memories that next year’s Burning Man is sure to bring.

The gathering will take place over August 25 – September 2, 2019 and this will be part of the dusty skyline.

Your 2019 Temple: “The Temple of Direction” by Geordie Van Der Bosch. Katie Hazard writes: “The Temple of Direction is a linear space, capturing the elegance and austerity of the torii gates at Fushimi Inari Shrine in Japan, where the artist previously lived. The linear lines form a passage that expands into a large hall, eliciting both a physical experience and a metaphysical journey. It’s a space that responds to the openness of the playa by creating a framework that encourages you to travel from end to end.” Read more in the Burning Man Journal! | Renderings from Geordie Van Der Bosch | #burningman #brc #blackrockcity #temple2019 #temple #radicalselfexpression #participation #thankslarry
