On Monday, January 21, Chris Brown was arrested in Paris after a woman filed a report of aggravated rape with police. He was held in custody with his bodyguard and one other person before being released without charges on January 22.

Today (January 24), Chris Brown has filed a defamation lawsuit in Paris against his accuser, according to TMZ and The Hollywood Reporter. Brown’s lawyer Raphael Chiche is reportedly pursuing criminal action against the accuser for her alleged “slanderous accusation.” The maximum prison sentence, if found guilty under the statute, is one year.

Chris Brown denied the allegations in a now-deleted Instagram post, writing, “THIS B!TCH LYIN’”: “I WANNA MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR…… THIS IS FALSE AND A WHOLE LOT OF CAP!” and, “FOR MY DAUGHTER AND MY FAMILY THIS IS SO DISRESPECTFUL AND IS AGAINST MY CHARACTER AND MORALS!!!!!”
