Circuit des Yeux’s Haley Fohr has teamed up with Claire Rousay for a new EP titled Sunset Poem, which features new versions of three songs from the 2021 Circuit des Yeux album -io. They’ve previewed the project with an update of “Sculpting the Exodus,” with the full EP arriving on October 20 via Matador. Check out “Sculpting the Exodus” below. Also below, find Fohr and Rousay in conversation about the new music.

Fohr shared a brief statement about working with Rousay on Sunset Poem:

I found Claire Rousay’s music when we were all stuck inside for two years.

Her music kind of gave me the atmosphere of company in a solitary reality. It reminded me of the way I used to interact with music when I was a teenager. A room can become a whole ecosystem once the music is playing. Her deft ability to work with sound in a microscopic way is what makes this collaboration so successful.

It was an honor to give Claire the stems of -io. The results are beguiling and immense, like watching lead pipes slowly melt into a metallic river.

Since last year’s -io, Fohr has issued a live EP and the single “The Manatee (A Story of This World Pt. III),” which she recorded during the -io sessions. In mid-September, Rousay shared the new album Wouldn’t Have to Hurt to benefit the Trevor Project after releasing Everything Perfect Is Already Here in April.
