Chicago bred percussion aficionado Cofresi is back on the airwaves with his latest “CODA” EP out on Gravitas Records. Gravitas is the perfect label for this magical work to land on because it truly is unique from start to finish. Known for his percussive sounds and spectacular live performances, Cofresi is able to translate that same energy throughout this body of music. Full of bouncy drums flows, he is able to weave the beats together through melodic and provocative synth work. Each of the five tracks are exceptional on their own, but together they form a full picture that is quintessentially Cofresi. The track Origami particularly stood out to me with its sedated feel and warm body. There really is a track for every Cofresi fan, new and old alike. With such great bodies of work like this, it would be a mistake to skip the next Cofresi set you have the chance of attending.
