The surest and quickest way to have me fall in love with a track is with a little brass. If the opening note of the song is a wonderful trumpet, even better. “Stranded” from Crystal Knives ticks a lot of boxes for me, best of all it’s a beautiful and catchy song.

“Stranded,” featuring Ivish and Nathan Kay, and is a smooth and sultry journey that’s like a ride at the park for all ages. It’s each to enjoy and you come out of it smiling and wanting to ride again.

“I like to put myself in weird, unfamiliar situations when it comes to songwriting. I loved the idea of putting myself, Ivish and Nathan together for a session because we all come from three very different worlds: Dance music, urban music and contemporary jazz. We went into the session with no idea what was going to happen and had the entire song written less than six hours later, the energy in the room was electric and I really think that vibe shines through on the finished record.” – Crystal Knives

I love this sort of music coming out now from artists like Louis Futon and Brasstracks, and Crystal Knives has clearly managed to tap into that sound and do it like the best of them. Check out “Stranded” below
