Faye Webster has shared her first new single in two years. “But Not Kiss” arrives with a music video directed by Kyle Ng of fashion collective Brain Dead. The clip was filmed at Los Angeles’ famed Bob Baker Marionette Theatre, and finds Webster sharing the stage with puppet bandmates. Check it out below, and scroll down to see Webster’s newly-announced a string of North American tour dates.

“I think it could be a really romantic song or a really anti-romantic song,” Webster said of her new track in a press release. “It’s something I’ve looked for but struggled to find in other love songs, for them to describe this conflict or contradiction.” She added that “But Not Kiss” “says a lot about what’s coming,” in terms of new music on the horizon.

Before kicking off her full tour in October, Webster is playing a live event at Brain Dead Studios tonight that includes a Q&A moderated by Kevin Hayes, a screening of the “But Not Kiss” video, a limited-edition T-shirt launch, and a ping pong tournament. Then, on Thursday, June 22, she’ll play an intimate one-night-only celebration at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia.

After issuing her fourth LP, I Know I’m Funny Haha, in 2021, Webster released the five-song Car Therapy Sessions EP last May. The EP included orchestra reworks of previous material.
