The FBI has closed its investigation into the October 2017 mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, The Associated Press and CNN report. According to the reports, the FBI found “no single or clear motivating factor” behind Stephen Paddock’s attack, which left 58 people dead in the worst mass shooting in United States history. Aaron Rouse, the agent in charge of the FBI’s Las Vegas office, told The AP, “It was all about doing the maximum amount of damage and him obtaining some form of infamy.”

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department concluded its 10-month investigation into the shooting last year. The FBI’s findings are consistent with the LVMPD’s, which also uncovered no motive for Paddock’s actions.
