Martin Scorsese is directing and producing a Grateful Dead biopic, Deadline reports. Jonah Hill will portray Jerry Garcia in the film and also serve as a producer. The movie will get released by Apple, which also has the rights to use the Dead’s music in the picture.

Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, along with Rick Yorn, are writing the script for the biopic. Executive producers include the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann, as well as Jerry Garcia’s daughter Trixie, Eric Eisner, and Bernie Cahill.

Martin Scorsese was an executive producer of the 2017 Grateful Dead documentary Long Strange Trip. He’s got another Apple Original Film, Killers of the Flower Moon, in the works, featuring musicians Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson.
