Devin Lima, singer in the pop group LFO, has died following a battle with cancer, TMZ Us Weekly, and Variety report. He was 41 years old. Pitchfork has contacted representatives for LFO.
Devin Lima joined LFO (aka Lyte Funkie Ones) in 1999. The band—consisting of founders Rich Cronin and Brad Fischetti, as well as Lima—broke through with their hit “Summer Girls,” which opened their debut album LFO. The group released one more album in 2001 (Life Is Good) before a 2002 hiatus.
A few years after the initial breakup, Lima released a solo cover of Sly and the Family Stone’s “If You Want Me to Stay.” He also performed the song during a Sly Stone tribute at the 2006 Grammy Awards. Lima later released a record called Mozart Popart with a new band called the Cadbury Diesel.
LFO briefly reunited in 2009. Rich Cronin died the next year. In 2017, Lima and Brad Fischetti reunited for the LFO track “Perfect 10.”
