Metallica have shared another single from their forthcoming LP, 72 Seasons. The new track is titled “Screaming Suicide,” and the band collaborated with “Lux Æterna” director Tim Saccenti again for the video. Check it out below.

In a press release, the band’s James Hetfield shared a brief statement about the inspiration behind the song:

“Screaming Suicide” addresses the taboo word of suicide. The intention is to communicate about the darkness we feel inside. It’s ridiculous to think we should deny that we have these thoughts. At one point or another I believe most people have thought about it. To face it is to speak the unspoken. If it’s a human experience, we should be able to talk about it. You are not alone.

Metallica announced 72 Seasons, the follow-up to 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, in November with “Lux Æterna.” They’ll tour Europe and North America extensively throughout 2023 and 2024, beginning in Amsterdam at the end of April.
