There have been a couple major artist-led, destination music festivals in the past year or so that have both failed for a variety of reasons. Pretty Lights’ “Island Of Light” was cancelled due to hurricanes in Puerto Rico. The reason for the cancellation of Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeach event was due to too high a price point.

Still, Odesza have now announced Sundara, to take place in Riviera Maya, Mexico next year, March 13-16. The festival is described as an all-inclusive destination festival and also features a stellar lineup. Odesza will of course headline, and they’ll play three sets: an extended live performance, a No.Sleep DJ Set, and an Ambient DJ Set.

Rounding out the lineup will be RUFUS DO SOL, RL Grime, Alison Wonderland, Bob Moses, Jai Wolf, TOKiMONSTA, Mount Kimbie (DJ Set), Kasbo, Golden Features, Evan Giia, and Pluko. Of course, more activities will be available to attendees while music isn’t going, considering it is an all-inclusive excursion.

General on-sale begins October 23, visit sundarafestival.com for more info. The cheapest tier begins at $1,339.75 per person, and goes up to $3,909 per person. Payment plans are available, however, we can’t help but feel that the price will deter many die-hard fans who aren’t financially thriving.

Also important to consider is the fact that Bassnectar is throwing his own festival at Riviera Maya, as well, just two weeks prior at the same price points. While the two groups do have different fanbases, there is considerable overlap, especially when taking the supporting acts into consideration. Whether one or both survive or end up cancelled remains to be seen.
