Midwinter is Pitchfork and the Art Institute of Chicago’s new three-day event, taking place throughout the Art Institute from February 15-17, 2019. Tickets are now available to purchase. Find them here.

To attend Midwinter, you can purchase a Base Ticket for $50 per day. The Base Tickets includes access to the scheduled and surprise Midwinter performances, as well as the original soundscapes in the galleries, live interviews and broadcasts from Pitchfork Radio, and access to the Art Institute’s permanent collection of artwork. A 3-Day Base Ticket Package is available for $128.

On top of the Base Ticket, there are Add-On Tickets available for $15-30. There will be eight additional shows per night, which you can access with an Add-On Ticket. The Add-On shows are listed on the Midwinter Schedule page.

Midwinter will take place February 15, 16, and 17 from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. Central each night. A vast majority of the Art Institute will be open during Midwinter, with both scheduled and surprise performances taking place throughout the museum. Among the many participating artists are Slowdive, Panda Bear, Oneohtrix Point Never, Kamasi Washington, Deerhunter, Laurie Anderson, William Basinski performing Disintegration Loops with the Chicago Philharmonic, Grouper, and JPEGMAFIA. In addition, various gallery spaces will feature ambient installations by Nico Muhly, Stars of the Lid, Julia Holter, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, and more. These original music productions are inspired by and responding to the iconic works at the Art Institute.

Pitchfork Radio will broadcast live from a theater at the Art Institute. A pre-event dinner will be held at Tony Mantuano’s Terzo Piano in the museum’s Modern Wing. Food and drinks will also be available throughout the evening in select parts of the Art Institute.
