R. Kelly has been granted release from jail on a $1 million bond, The Chicago Tribune’s Megan Crepeau reports. Crepeau shared video of Kelly walking out of jail surrounded by reporters.

Kelly turned himself in to authorities on Friday night, February 22 and pled not guilty to 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Cook County, Illinois earlier today. Kelly is due back in court on Friday, March 22, according to The AP. Last week, R. Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The charges involve four underage girls who prosecutors say Kelly abused during the period of 1998 to 2010.

Along with the criminal charges, R. Kelly was hit with new lawsuit in Cook County today; a woman named Heather Williams claims Kelly sexually abused her in 1998 when she was 16 years old. Lisa VanAllen, the woman who testified against R. Kelly in his 2008 child pornography case, also penned a New York Times op-ed, published today.
