Fortnite is undisputedly one of the most popular video games ever, and yesterday it made history with a virtual Marshmello concert. According to an inside source, Fortnite had 10 million concurrent players during the event.

This is interesting considering back in November it was determined that Fortnite had 200 million total players and 8.3 million was the concurrent peak. If the 10 million stat is completely accurate, well then it’s a new record set by the masked DJ!

Of course, that figure doesn’t count those watching via stream, outside of gameplay. Or, take into consideration his encore show that occurred 12 hours later, so another batch of players could experience this piece of video game history. This could add up to millions more.

Experts and fans alike are hoping Epic Games releases official numbers, just to be sure. However, unless Geoff Keighley stands corrected, 10 million is the number. “What a moment for gaming!” he exclaims in the post below.

Marshmello has provided his own statement: “We made history today! The first ever live virtual concert inside of with millions of people in attendance. So insane, thank you epic games and everyone who made this possible!”
