Two staples within Ibiza’s nightlife, Amnesia and Privilege have been temporarily suspended after making unlawful structural adjustments. These changes were reportedly made in order to boost capacity at both establishments.

Inspections from back in September found the alterations in violation and now both clubs have been suspended by the San Antonio council. The clubs may reopen once the architectural modifications have been amended within the code.

Numerous areas of Amnesia’s upper floor were reportedly expanded without permission. Privilege also allowed unregistered areas of the club to be used as dance floors, for up to 500 extra people.

Both Amnesia and Privilege are expected to remain closed through the off-season and are expected to pay €650 and €54,999, respectively. Two undisclosed venues were also charged for closing later than is allowed during the summer season.
