MTV is making some huge music festival moves. The company, owned by Viacom, has now reportedly acquired SnowGlobe Music Festival, a yearly electronic-driven event in South Lake Tahoe, CA.

This year’s lineup includes headliners Above & Beyond, Diplo, Eric Prydz, Rezz and RL Grime, plus Big Gigantic, NGHTMRE b2b Slander, 1788-LEkali, Baauer, Anna Lunoe and so many more. Over 40 artists will take the stage over December 29 – 31 at one of the season’s premier events.

With this, MTV says it’s taking “the natural next step in its resurgence by expanding deeper into live events.” The television company hopes to expand SnowGlobe music festival by adding multiple dates and locations across the world.

Furthermore, Chris McCarthy, president of MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo describes the company’s particular interest in SnowGlobe over the rest: “In a festival space where many events have become indistinguishable, SnowGlobe stands out with a unique mix of music, sports, and art that makes it a favorite among artists and its growing audience.”

This move is an interesting one, but an established entertainment company such as MTV should have no problem pulling this off. Stay tuned for more.
