Sleep have announced a new reissue of their landmark stoner metal album Dopesmoker via Third Man Records. Along with a standard black vinyl reissue, another edition features real cannabis leaves pressed into the record. The “Weedian High-Fi” version will be available exclusively at Third Man’s Detroit storefront on Friday (August 26), with preorders for the standard vinyl opening the same day. The reissue includes the first digital release of Sleep’s “Hot Lava Man”; Dopesmoker will also return to streaming platforms on August 26, following its removal in February.

Dopesmoker first arrived in 1999, becoming a piece of metal lore for the tumultuous circumstances of its creation and the band’s dissolution after its recording. The hour-long piece of music circulated in various forms in subsequent years, originally under the title Jerusalem. In 2012, Sleep issued a remastered and definitive version of the album via Southern Lord. The band returned in 2018 to release The Sciences, their first album since Dopesmoker’s original release. Last year, Sleep released a pair of 12″ singles, dubbed Iommic Life.
