Strange Ranger have broken up, the group announced on social media today (October 30). “Pure Music will be the last Strange Ranger album. Thank you so much for listening to the music and coming out to shows for all these years- it means the world,” they wrote, concluding, “See u on the other side..” A representative for the band did not have further comment.

Released in July, Pure Music was the ensemble’s third LP under the Strange Ranger banner, following 2019’s Remembering the Rockets and 2017’s Daymoon. The group—vocalist Fiona Woodman, guitarist Isaac Eiger, drummer Nathan Tucker, and bassist Fred Nixon—also released a mixtape titled No Light in Heaven in 2021.

Before Strange Ranger, Isaac Eiger and Fred Nixon formed the band Sioux Falls after growing up together in Bozeman, Montana. They relocated to Portland, Oregon, and, with drummer Ben Scott, released their debut album, Rot Forever, in 2016.
