With all the news surrounding the return of Swedish House Mafia, they have been the talk of the industry this year. The name on everyone’s lips and typed by everyone’s fingers.

According to Google, “Swedish House Mafia” was the top trending electronic music artist of 2018. With their return to Ultra, buzz about a world tour, and an overall killer marketing strategy, it makes total sense. Let’s just say — we are not surprised by this result whatsoever, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting for Swedish House Mafia.

Sticking with their brand, SHM didn’t give so much as a “wow” or a “thank you” for the huge nod, but instead tagged Google three times in the description of their post and added #YearInSearch. See — their online imprint is always on point.

And though Swedish House Mafia’s accolade is noteworthy, it’s nothing compared to another dance music legend. The search engine’s Year In Search review has also revealed Avicii as the #2 most searched topic overall on Google, and the #1 searched name related to loss.

Clearly, Avicii’s death in April of this year had a profound impact on his fans. And, like many of us, we rushed to Google when we first heard, unable to believe that it was really true.
