At the BRIT Awards today, the 1975 won the award for Best British Group. During his acceptance speech, frontman Matty Healy read a quote from The Guardian’s deputy music editor (and Pitchfork contributor) Laura Snapes2015 essay concerning Mark Kozelek’s misogynist remarks during a concert. “I just want you to listen to me for one sec,” Healy said, “Just a couple of sentences that a friend of ours, Laura Snapes, said this, and I thought we should all really think about it.” He then read the below quote:

Male misogynist acts are examined for nuance and defended as traits of ‘difficult’ artists, [while] women and those who call them out are treated as hysterics who don’t understand art.
