During last night’s Pennsylvania show, the War on Drugs brought out special guest Tim Heidecker for a couple songs. They surprised the Tower Theatre audience with a performance Heidecker’s 2013 Yellow River Boys track “Hot Piss.” The comedian then jumped on guitar and joined the War on Drugs for a cover of Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker’s Long After Dark song “Straight into Darkness.” For the cover, they were joined by Hop Along’s Frances Quinlan and Jelloman’s Paul Vile (Kurt Vile’s brother). Watch it all go down below.

Last year, the War on Drugs paid tribute to Petty with a cover of his 1994 track “Time to Move On.” Tim Heidecker recently dropped the anti-Trump song “Ballad of the Incel Man” to benefit the nonprofit Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. His album of anti-Trump tracks, Too Dumb for Suicide: Tim Heidecker’s Trump Songs, arrived in 2017. The War on Drugs shared their latest record A Deeper Understanding that same year.
