A third person has died following a crowd crush at a Glorilla concert in Rochester, New York last Sunday (March 5), local CNN affiliate WHAM reports. A 35-year-old Syracuse woman named Aisha Stephens died Wednesday night (March 8). Police confirmed to the outlet that Stephens was “the last remaining hospitalized victim” from the stampede, and that seven other attendees sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
On March 6, The Associated Press reported that two people had been killed and eight more injured during the incident at Rochester’s Main Street Armory, where Glorilla was performing with Finesse2Tymes. Rhondesia Belton, 33, and Brandy Miller, 35, were the first victims to be pronounced dead.
Lieutenant Nicholas Adams of the Rochester Police Department told CNN that officers arrived on the scene around 11 p.m. in response to a call about gun shots fired inside the event space. Officers found no evidence of a shooting, but encountered several injured concertgoers. “The injuries appear to be as a result of a large crowd pushing towards the exits following accounts of individuals hearing what they believed to be gunshots,” Adams told CNN.
“I’m just now hearing about what happened wtf,” Glorilla wrote on twitter after reports of the incident began circulating. “Praying everybody is ok.” She later tweeted: “I am devastated & heartbroken over the tragic deaths that happened after Sunday’s show. My fans mean the world to me 😢praying for their families & for a speedy recovery of everyone affected 🙏🏽”
On Wednesday, the city of Rochester announced that the Main Street Armory is currently prohibited from hosting any public events after the pending renewal of its entertainment license was denied.
