Thurston Moore recently announced that he had to cancel his book tour behind the memoir Sonic Life after “a longstanding health condition” became “rather, and consistently, debilitating.” In a new interview with Mark Yarm for The New York Times, Moore revealed that he’s been living with the common heart rhythm abnormality atrial fibrillation for several years. “But this year, it became slightly concerning,” Moore said. “I was finding myself at times to be so weak I could hardly walk around the neighborhood.”

Moore said that his doctor ordered him not to fly and is awaiting treatment. “The prognosis is very good,” Moore said. He plans to attend book evens in the UK next month. Moore was also asked in the interview about the possibility of a Sonic Youth reunion: “I don’t foresee it happening because I think maybe it’s a little too unwieldy at this point.” Read the full article.

Sonic Life is out October 24 via Doubleday.
