When Thurston Moore spoke to Vulture last year, the Sonic Youth co-founder mentioned that he’d begun essaying about his time growing up in New York, coming of age in the ‘70s and starting Sonic Youth at the start of the ’80s. “This downtime period allowed me to do this, so I have this manuscript called Sonic Life that I probably will publish at some point in 2021,” he said at the time.

Fans will have to wait a bit longer: Publishing house Faber has purchased the rights to Sonic Life, now due out 2023. According to publishing industry site The Bookseller, the new memoir will detail the “wild music and endless wonder” of Moore’s career and life.

Thurston Moore’s most recent solo album By the Fire was released last fall. Prior to that, he participated in a series of Galaxie 500 covers, recording his take on “Another Day.”
