Travis Scott was arrested in Paris on Friday morning (August 9) for allegedly assaulting a security guard, BBC Newsbeat reports. He has since been released from custody without being formally charged, his representatives tell Pitchfork. The Associated Press reports, via a statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office, that charges are not being pursued “because the incident was minor.”
The incident took place outside the George V hotel after Scott attended a basketball game with Quavo at the Olympics. The security guard had been trying to break up an altercation between Scott and his own bodyguard, according to police.
In a statement reported by The Associated Press, the Paris prosecutor’s officer said, “I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested the rapper nicknamed Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard.”
A representative for Scott said, “We are in direct communication with the local Parisian authorities to swiftly resolve this matter and will provide updates when appropriate.” Nobody has reported injuries or been charged, a source close to the situation told Pitchfork.
Yesterday, an older charge against Scott of disorderly intoxication in Miami was dropped, TMZ reported. In that case, a misdemeanor trespassing charge still stands.
