Its been a year since the world lost The Cranberries’ lead singer Dolores O’Riordan. In honor of the one-year anniversary of her death, Vic Mensa has released a cover of The Cranberries’ 1994 hit “Zombie” with his new rock band 93PUNX. The original track was a protest written about the 1993 IRA bombings in England. Vic Mensa has been very vocal on gun control and gun violence in recent years, so covering “Zombies” is quite fitting. On the revamp, Mensa baritone vocals recite similar verses in respect to O’Riordan. Vic Mensa’s 93PUNX project is set to release this spring with collaborations alongside Good Charlotte and Bad Brains. Stream Vic Mensa’s “Zombie” cover below and be on the lookout for his upcoming 93PUNX project.
