This past New Music Friday saw rising singer VVAVES team up with Iggy Azalea for a truly memorable single on ‘Boys Like You’ – a pop anthem that brings female power to the forefront.
With a big weekend feel, punchy guitar hooks and electronic textures and a killer verse from Iggy, the new single is the latest release since 2018’s ‘Alive.’ ’’If you always get off easy, you won’t ever learn,” VVAVES sings, before hammering her point across in the chorus: “Fuck boys like you.”
Discussing the track, VVAVES says: “I want to set a good example for all the females listening. I want them to feel empowered through the lyrics and the production, I want women to have fun and celebrate themselves. It’s not “F*ck men” or “F*ck the industry,” it’s “F*ck letting yourself get treated as less than you are. It’s a reminder that we have the power and responsibility to speak up.”
