Soul Glo have performed a cover of System of a Down’s “Soil” for Sounds of Saving and 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s “Song That Found Me at the Right Time” series.
“Soil,” an album cut from System of a Down’s 1998 self-titled debut, is lyrically focused on suicide, death and loss. In an accompanying narration, Soul Glo’s Pierce Jordan describes music’s role in his own mental health journey: “Art is the only thing that keeps my desire to be here. The next project, being able to see the world through any given person’s eyes, out of the six billion people that exist here, the fact that nobody is exactly the same. It’s one of, like, the consistently unfolding beauties of life that really makes shit worth sticking around for. Everybody has their reason for continuing, and I guess art is mine.”
Cassandra Jenkins, Sharon Van Etten, Bully’s Alicia Bognanno, and more have previously contributed to the “Song That Found Me at the Right Time” series.
