Although he was publicly shamed for alleged domestic abuse, XXXTentacion was technically innocent until proven guilty and awaiting trial for the 2016 case against him. He later became a target of violence himself and was shot dead on June 8, 2018.

The rapper is no longer with us or able to testify, but we finally have some answers — and they’re not easy to stomach. In a newly surfaced confession tape obtained by Pitchfork, XXX speaks openly about his domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend. He also claims on one occasion he stabbed eight people. And, references the time he stabbed a former manager and felt no remorse.

“She’s seen this shit,” XXXTentacion says in the confession tape. “She know.”

“I put my source of happiness in another person, which was a mistake initially, right? But she fell through on every occasion until now. Until I started fucking her up bruh. I started fucking her up because she made one mistake. And from there, the whole cycle went down. Now she’s scared. That girl is scared for her life. Which I understand.”

To hear him admit to such violence so cooly is beyond disturbing, but even more so are the details of the domestic case against him. The 2017 deposition charged him with battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness tampering.

Up until the time of his death, he pled “not guilty.” His confession tape tells it much differently — listen here.
